Build Strategies
There are 3 main build types: 1) Attack; 2) Spy/Hansel; and 3) Hybrid. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. There are also three types of buildings: a) Attack; b) Spy; and c) Defensive.
Here are some key points to begin with:
a) Attack Buildings: there are attack heavy, balanced, and defense heavy buildings.
-Attack Heavy (Workshop, Forge, Sub Factory, Cursed Factory, and Hatchery) give higher attackk stats and lower defense stats. They also give lower plunder than other atk buildings
-Balanced (Stables, Beastiary, War Aviary, Circle of Elements, and Colony) given an even amount of atk and def stats. These buildings give the highest combined stat bonus (also meaning most troops) of all atk buildings. As a result, owning one of these buildings will give you 1 additional atk when u unload your troops. These give slightly more plunder than attack heavy buildings.
-Defense Heavy (Barracks, War Cathedral, Summoning Circle, Titan Liar, and Torture Garden) given a higher defense stats than attack stats. These buildings give more plunder than other attack buildings (+5% per hit compared to attack heavy buildings).

b) Spy Buildings: Guild, Stronghold of Shadow, and Volary.
2 guilds = 1 SOS (stats are almost the same) 5 SOS = 2 Volary (stats are almost the same) |
c) Defensive Buildings:
-Spy Def: Lookout Tower; Lookout Fortress; Changeling Watchtower 5 Tower = 1 Fortress; 5 Fortress = 2 Watchtower -Troop Def: Defensive Tower; Defensive Fortress; and Arboreal Dungeon. 3 Tower=1 Fortress; 5 Fortress = 2 Dungeon |
1) Attack Build
-An attack build is only really effective if you have adequate troop defense and spy defense stats. -You will want at least 1mil spy defense and 6mil troop defense. If you plan to war a lot then you will want spy defense of 1.5-2mil. -This guide will start with the assumption that you already have 25 lands with a mix of atk and spy buildings.
B) Skip building COE and Instead replace each guild with a T5 atk building. 11. Regardless of whether you decide to do A or B above I would recommend building 3 colonies to lvl 3 (one at a time). 12. Next build 2 lvl 3 volaries. Thereafter continue building a couple more colonies. Then another volary. 13. Once you are build complete through land 40 (5 SOS, 19 COE, 3 Volaries, 12 Colonies) your stats will be 4.6 mil atk/def and 850k spy atk/def. -You have an additional 10 highlands to alter your build. If you want to be atk heavy add some hatcheries or tortured gardens for defense heavy. Or if you plan to war consider adding more volaries. -Regardless your which way you decide to take your build you are going to want additional spy defense stats. After you have are closer to highland and lowland build complete (HLBC), meaning your lowlands are complete and your highlands are almost finished, you should replace some of your lowland colonies/SOS with Spy defense towers, especially if you plan to war. You will want 4-20 spy defense towers on your lowlands. Really depends on how much your want your atk stats and plunder to decrease. 5 Lookout Fortresses = 2 Changling watchtowers for much less gold |
2) Spy/Hansel Build
-A hansel generally consists of 1 atk building and the remainder being spy buildings (guilds, SOS, or volary). -Generally you want to be a guild hansel or a volary hansel. -A guild hansel would be 48 guilds. A guild hansel invests gold in large atk allies to increase their bonus from allies (bfa) -A volary hansel would be 24-25 volaries with 23-24 SOS (depending on the type of atk building-a circle of elements on lowlands or colony on highlands) -If u plan to war then u may want to consider a couple extra atk buildings and a few spy defense buildings -Benefit of a hansel build is that you can generally scout, assassinate, or steal from the great majority of attack builds. They are also extremely effective in war. -They may also easily be converted into a pure spy (zero atk buildings), which can only be attacked if they have gold out. They may also put gold out and allow others to hit them. -Downside is that they can easily be attacked by any atk build as well as other hansels Key to Building a Hansel:
